BAGHDAD—Iraqi security forces assisted by U.S. troops ended a deadly three-hour siege of a provincial council headquarters north of Baghdad on Tuesday after shooting the last surviving assailant before he could detonate a suicide belt.
At least eight people were killed and 29 injured in the incident in Baquba, in Diyala province, according to an official of the Interior Ministry in Baghdad.
